Indian Test Captain Virat Kohli kept his Performance at the top helped his side into the semifinals of the World Twenty20 after defeating Australia, has replaced Aaron Finch as the number one batsman in the latest ICC T20 rankings. Number-one ranked India will go head to head with third- ranked West Indies in Mumbai , while in the first semi-final in Delhi while second-ranked New Zealand will square-off against fifth-ranked England.

Vijaya Bank to get Rs 220 crore capital infusion from government




State-run Vijaya Bank said the government has approved a capital infusion of Rs 220 crore in lieu of preferential allotment of shares.In the first tranche, as many as 13 public sectors banks were given fund support of Rs 19,950 crore. Of this, SBI got the highest amount of Rs 5,393 crore.

Wipro Limited has announced Patrick Dupuis as its new Boards of Directors. He will serve the company as an independent member on its board. This appointment will be effective from 1st of April 2016. Shah Rukh Khan To Continue As Dish TV's Brand Ambassador



Leading direct-to-home television operator Dish TV has extended its tieup with Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, who has been endorsing the brand for more than eight years, and plans to launch a new pan-India campaign later this week. The company said that as brand ambassador, Khan will continue to play a key role in brand and product communication. Dish TV is the first and only private DTH player in India to turn profitable at the net level. After over a decade of operations, it posted its first net . 3.1 crore in 2014-15.

Asian Development Bank cuts Asia's growth forecast to 5.7% for 2016


The Asian Development Bank (ADB) slashed its economic growth forecast for developing Asia this year, citing global headwinds and a weaker outlook for China. Developing Asia will expand 5.7% this year and in 2017, the Manila-based lender said in its latest Asian Development Outlook released. In its December outlook report, the ADB had forecast 2016 growth for the region at 6.0%.

European Investment Bank to loan €450 million for Lucknow Metro




European Union, through the European Investment Bank (EIB), will lend India €450 million (approximately Rs. 3,300 crore) towards constructing a 23-km long Lucknow Metro rail line and a purchasing a fleet of new trains.

India’s first indigenous composites sonar dome, a ship’s underwater eyes and ears, was today flagged off by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar from here to be delivered to Mazgaon docks in Mumbai.Designed and produced by a Defence and Research Development Organisation (DRDO) lab in Pune, the sonar dome is a first of its kind in the country and has been manufactured by a composites manufacturing company.

National anthem singing made mandatory in UP schools



Uttar Pradesh government directive has made it mandatory for primary school students to sing the national anthem, 'Jana Gana Mana', every day.The directive also states that primary schools must run 200 days a year, while higher secondary schools must run 220 days a year. Furthermore, schools must observe 'swachhata diwas' (Cleanliness Day) every Wednesday, according to the same.

Gujarat, Maharashtra contribute 46% to India's exports; share of top 5 is 69%




As per the study of industry lobby ASSOCHAM has said Gujarat and Maharashtra account for 46% of the country’s merchandise exports. The share of the top five — including the next three best-performing States: Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh — is over 69 per cent of India’s entire export earnings, the study said. This finding is based on the analysis of data between 2007-08 and 2014-15.

Haryana becomes 1st to launch injectable contraceptive.



Haryana has become the first state in India to launch injectable contraceptives as a family planning measure across all government healthcare facilities. The new move is a part of the Haryana government's Project Salamati, which was launched by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in a statement that it has cancelled registration of 22 non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) including Amazan Capital and Mascot Commerce.

GVK sells stake in Bangalore International Airport to Fairfax


GVK Power and Infrastructure Ltd has agreed to sell a 33% stake in Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) to India-born Canadian billionaire Prem Watsa’s Fairfax India Holdings Corp. and Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd for Rs.2,149 crore, seeking to raise money to repay debt.

11 Unilateral Advance Pricing Agreements Signed By CBDT


The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) signed 11 unilateral Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs). With the signing of these agreements, India has entered into 59 bilateral or unilateral APAs. 50 of these agreements have been signed in the current financial year.

NTT Data to Buy Dell’s IT-Services Arm



Japan’s major NTT Data has acquired Dell Services, the IT services arm of PC maker Dell. According to various media reports the deal is valued at over $3 billion. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

112 Would Be The National Emergency Number in India; 100, 101, 102, 108 To be Phased Out!

Bike-sharing service UberMOTO launched in Gurgaon




Uber has launched their bike-sharing initiative in Gurgaon. The UberMOTO option on the app will now let their customers call a scooter or bike via the app. The base fare for the ride is Rs 15 and charges Rs 3 per kilometer. The service isn’t just cheaper than most alternatives, but also less polluting and quicker.

Government Permits 100% FDI in Online Marketplaces



The government permitted 100% FDI in the marketplace format of e-commerce retailing with a view to attract more foreign investers. As per the guidelines issued by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) on FDI in e-commerce, foreign direct investment (FDI) has not been allowed in inventory-based model of e-commerce.

US museum returns 10th century Rama statue to Cambodia





United States returned an ancient decapitated statue of Hindu god Rama stolen from Cambodia during the South East Asian country’s civil war in the 70s. The sandstone Torso of Rama statue, which stands 157 centimetres tall and is missing its head, arms and feet, was formally handed over at a ceremony in Phnom Penh attended by government officials, the US ambassador and the director of the Denver Museum of Art.

Government to launch Gram Uday to Bharat Uday Abhiyan from 14th to 24th April, 2016
