Sudha Singh qualifies for Rio Olympics in 3000 m steeple chase event



Marathon runner Lalita Babar smashed her own national record to win the gold while Sudha Singh also qualified for the Rio Olympics while winning silver in women’s 3000m steeplechase on the second and penultimate day of the Federation Cup National Athletics Championships in New Delhi. Maharashtra’s Babar has already qualified for the Olympics in both the 3000m steeplechase and marathon.

Nagaland capital Kohima has been declared as a ‘smoke-free city’. The official declaration was made by the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Rovilatuo Mor during the campaign for Smoke-Free Kohima City organised by District Tobacco Control Cell under the Department of Health and Family Welfare. Nagaland State ranks the second highest in the country with 57% of Tobacco Users.

Mongolia confers highest civilian honour to two Indians



Mongolia has conferred its highest civilian award "North Star" to two noted Indian scholars-Lokesh Chandra and Mansura Haider for their contribution to Mongolian studies. It was presented by the Mongolian Foreign Minister Lundeg Purevsuren. The Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has also attended the award ceremony.

J&K Cabinet approves 5% interest subsidy for flood-hit traders



Jammu and Kashmir govt. has approved 5%  interest subsidy to flood-hit traders with effect from 1st April this year.The subsidy will have a cap of 5 lakh rupees per affected business unit for a period of four years. The decision will bring a major relief to September 2014 flood hit traders and business units.

Cabinet gives ex-post facto approval for MOU between IRDAI and Insurance Authority, UAE

New naval detachment launched at Lakshadweep Androth Island

National Food Security Act Launched In Manipur


Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh declared that the National Food Security Act has been implemented the state.
