World Bank and NDB agreed to strengthen cooperation especially in infrastructure
i. World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim and New Development Bank President K.V. Kamath signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) to strengthen their cooperation in addressing global infrastructure needs in Washington D.C on Sept. 9, 2016.
ii. This partnership paving the way for the two institutions to explore country-level cooperation that would primarily focus on infrastructure.

Tata Power, ICICI Venture team up, eye power assets
i. Electricity generator Tata Power and ICICI Venture grouped together to take over stressed power assets in India.
ii. Tata Power holds a 26% stake and ICICI Ventures holds 74% stake in Resurgent Power Ventures.
iii. Tata Power manage the operations of the coal-fired and hydropower plants and routed its equity in Resurgent through its wholly owned subsidiary Tata Power International.
iv.ICICI Venture responsible for organising equity and debt financing for the acquisitions Tata Power and it structured its investment through parent ICICI Bank’s Bahrain branch.
Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer’s deal with DRDO under bribery cloud
i. A major big defence corruption probe is prepared to come to India. It’s a joint US-Brazil investigation into bribery charges against Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer that has been expanded to include the sales made to India.
ii. As per the deal, the radar and other systems would be developed by DRDO and the Brazilian firm would assist in integrating the system to the aircraft.

i. Jharkhand was awarded the 45th Skoch Merit Award and Skoch Smart Governance Gold Award, 2016. 2016 which was held in Hyderabad.

i. 4th ASEAN-India Summit and the 11th East Asia Summit held in Vientiane, Laos PDR with the invitation of H.E. Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister of Lao PDR.

RBI allowed 100% FDI in Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd.
i. Reserve Bank of India has allowed foreign investors to buy up to 100% in Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd.
ii. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs)/Registered Foreign Portfolios Investors (RFPIs) can now invest up to 100% of the paid up capital of Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Limited under the Portfolio Investment Scheme (PIS).

Document ‘The Grolier Codex’ among world’s rarest books
i. 13th-century Mayan document ‘The Grolier Codex’ is one of the rarest books in the world.
ii. The document was found in a cave in Mexico in the 1960s by Josue Saenz
iii. The Grolier Codex is a fragment, consisting of 10 painted pages decorated with ritual Maya iconography and a calendar that charts the movement of the planet Venus.
Western Odisha celebrates Nuakhai – The Agricultural Festival
i. People across western Odisha are celebrating Nuakhai – the agrarian festival of the region – with religious fervor and devotion.
ii. The celebrations began with the ‘Nabanna’ or new rice out of newly harvested paddy crop was offered to Maa Samaleswari Devi in Sambalpur as per the ‘lagna’ or auspicious moment. Later, people offered ‘Nabanna’ to their presiding deities.
TCS joins hands with SASTRA Varsity to train 2000 school teachers
