Women and Child Development(WCD) Minister Maneka Gandhi has released the draft of National Policy for Women, 2016 which seeks to address emerging challenges confronting women, including protection against cyber crime, security to surrogate mothers and bringing gender sensitivity in family planning policies. The policy provides a road map for dealing with women’s issues for the next 15-20 years and will replace the earlier policy of 2001.
The policy will focus to create a society in which women attain their full potential and participate as equal partners in all spheres of life. It also emphasises the role of an effective framework to enable the process of developing policies, programmes and practices which will ensure equal rights and opportunities for women.It seeks to create conducive socio-cultural, economic and political environment to enable women enjoy de jure and de facto fundamental rights and realize their full potential.

1. Health including food security and nutrition
3. Violence Against Women
4. Enabling Environment
5. Operational strategies
6. Training and capacity building of all stakeholders
7. Facilitating women in workplace
