‘Encyclopedia’ Of Languages Of Gujarat Published

The city-based Bhasha Research and Publication Centre has announced the publication of the Gujarat, Diu & Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli Volume of the People’s Linguistic Survey of India Series (PLSI). The volume, edited by Kanjibhai Patel and published by Orient Blackswan, would be released by the Gujarat Governor O P Kohli.

The volume documents 49 languages or dialects spoken in the state, including the languages of coastal, tribal and nomadic communities. The nationwide survey of the living languages of India in 2010. The survey findings and documentation are now being published as a linguistic encyclopedia of 70 volumes from which 20 volumes have already been published.
