HC declares Manipur economic blockade ‘illegal’

The High Court of Manipur declared the economic blockade in Manipur called by United Naga Council (UNC) as illegal.

The order was passed by a bench of three judges Chief Justice R R Prasad, Justice N Kotiswar Singh and Justice Kh Nobin Singh on public interest litigation. 
Besides, the court has also directed the authorities to deal with those supporting the blockade according to the law. 
The blockade, called by the UNC on November 1, 2016 has become a key issue in Manipur where Assembly election is going on.
