India And Sweden Signed MoU On Technical Cooperation For Railway

The ministry of railways signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Sweden for technical cooperation. The main objective of the MoU, signed by Sweden’s ministry of enterprise and innovation, is cooperation between the two countries to promote efficiency and sustainability and achieve concrete results with regard to bilateral trade, investment and technology transfer.
The areas identified for cooperation include benchmark railway projects, exchange of knowledge, training and education and sustainable solutions among others. The agreement’s time frame is five years, extendable by another five years with mutual consent.

Other cooperation projects agreed include tilting coaches or trains, optimization of maintenance, capacity allocation and improved freight/combination traffic. Training and continuing of education program in maintenance of Rail transport system for Railway engineers and managers.
