India Post Goes High-Tech, Geo-Tags Post Offices On Bhuvan

The postal department of India, India Post is going high tech by geo tagging the post office on Bhuvan and has begun monitoring timely clearance of the letter boxes through a mobile app. The portal is developed by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and will help to provide visualization services and earth observation data to users in public domain.

The initiative is the part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s drive to use space technology by various departments of the government. Under this initiative, the Geo-tagging will help people to find the nearest post office, their services and timings. Presently, India Post has geo-tagged more than 1.5 lakh post offices on a geo-portal Bhuvan. Bhuvan is a software application which allows users to explore a 2D3D representation of the surface of the earth and started in 2009 with simple display of satellite data and basic GIS functionality, now has more than 6,000 map services which are being used under various applications.
So lets discuss some questions related to this post :
1. Name the organization which is going high tech by geo tagging on Bhuvan ?
2. The geo tagging app ‘Bhuvan’ is developed by which organization ?
