J&K NCC Girls Scale Mt. Everest


Three NCC girl cadets of NCC Directorate J&K have made the State proud by scaling the Mt Everest. They were part of the first ever all girls Mt. Everest Expedition of the NCC which scaled the summit recently. The three girl cadets from Jammu and Kashmir are Cadets Stanzlin Laskit, Tashi Laskit and Tsering Angmo. All the three girls hail from Leh and are students of Class XII of Government Higher Secondary School, Leh.

These cadets had been training hard for the last two years and were selected after a very rigorous training and selection process. 100 cadets were selected by trials held pan-India. The selected cadets then underwent a special mountain course at HMI, Darjeeling. Pre-Everest Expedition to Mt Deo-Tibba (19688 ft), near Manali in Himachal Pradesh was conducted for 40 cadets in Apr-May 2015.
