President Pranab Mukherjee has given Maharashtra Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao additional charge of Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat Governor Om Prakash Kohli of Madhya Pradesh. The tenure of Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah ended on Tuesday while that of Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav will come to an end on September 7.
The Governor is the head of a state just like the President is the head of the republic. The Governor is the nominal head of a state, while the Chief Minister is the executive head. All executive actions of the state are taken in the name of the Governor.
