Meeran Borwankar Appointed As The New DG Of BPR&D By GOI

Maharashtra cadre IPS officer Meeran C Borwankar has appointed as the new Director General (DG) of Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) till the date of her superannuation in 2017. Her appointemment made by a cabinet commitee and order issued by Department of Personnel and Training. 

Presently Meeran Borwankar is working with Maharastra State Cadre. She has also worked as anti-terrorism squad (ATS) in Maharastra.

Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) headquartered in New Delhi is a consultancy organisation under the Centre for modernisation of police forces which was set up on 28th of August 1970. BPR&D has set up with the objective of the Government of India for the modernization of police forces. It has evolved as a multifaceted, consultancy organisation. At present it has 4 divisions – Research, Development, Training and Correctional Administration.
