Naval, Coast Guard ships commissioned

Fast patrol vessel ICGS Gaidinliu, named after Naga freedom-fighter and leader Rani Gaidinliu, was commissioned by Director-General Rajendra Singh of the Coast Guard. The vessel was built by Hindusthan Shipyard Ltd (HSL)

INS Tihayu, a fast attack craft, was commissioned by Vice-Admiral HCS Bisht, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command (ENC). The ship was built by the Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd. Named after one of the Nicobar islands, the Tihayu is capable of achieving speeds in excess of 35 knots.
