Net Neutrality is in favour of rules: TRAI

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has said that no service provider can offer or charge discriminatory tariffs for data services on the basis of content. A service provider may reduce tariff for accessing or providing emergency services, the body ruled. TRAI may review these regulations after a period of two years. TRAI will also levy a penalty of Rs. 50,000 a day for discriminatory tariffs charged by service providers. This comes amid an ongoing debate over net neutrality in the country.
