Odisha Government launches 100 Adarsha Vidyalayas

Odisha government has launched 100 Adarsha Vidyalayas and CBSE-affiliated English medium schools in 14 districts of the state. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik has formally inaugurated the first model school at Hinjli in Ganjam district of Odisha. Ganjam district is his own constituency. He has inaugurated the remaining 99 schools online.

These schools will be functional from the upcoming session. Students of these model schools would get free education and all facilities like mid-day meal, uniform and textbooks free of cost like other state government-run schools. These schools will have the patterns of the Kendriya Vidyalays to students of backward regions and the schools with hostel facilities will follow the CBSE syllabus with English as the first language and Odia as the second language.

Besides text book education, students in model schools would be taught other co-curricular activities like information, communication and technology (ICT), art and craft, song, dance and sports. These schools will reserve 50 % seats for scheduled categories and girl students. According to the scheme, there will be one model school in the headquarters of each block. The next phase of such schools for remaining 214 blocks would be set up very soon.

This scheme was launched under the Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan which was established as a society, under Society Registration Act of Odisha in September 2015. The State Government had set up the Sangathan to run the model schools under public private partnership (PPP) mode after the NDA government at the Centre discontinued financial support to the Rashtriya Adarsh Vidyalaya Scheme that was implemented by the previous UPA government.

Extra Info :
TATA to construct model schools of 30 blocks, while Odisha Mining Corporation had agreed to construct in 25 Blocks and Jindal Steel and Power Limited in 10 blocks.

So now lets discuss some questions related to this post which can be asked in the upcoming exams :
