President Mukherjee receives highest civilian award of Ivory coast

President Pranab Mukherjee has been awarded the highest civilian award of Ivory Coast, ‘the National Grand Crois’. The award was bestowed upon Pranab Mukherjee during his two days visit to Ivory Coast on the second leg of his three-nation African tour. His visit is the first ever high-level visit from India to Ivory Coast. He was invited by Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara. On the first day of his two-day visit to the nation, Mukherjee held one-to-one dialogue with his counterpart Ouattara which was followed by delegation-level talks.

During the talks, President Mukherjee underlined the need to reform global organisations. Both countries also signed Headquarters agreement for re-establishment of Exim bank regional headquarters in the Ivory Coast. Mr. Mukherjee also attended state Banquet hosted by Ivory Coast President ,where common issues like terrorism, climate change, and sustainable development were discussed.
