Mizoram defeated by Punjab 3-5 in a penalty shootout to bag Dr BC Roy Trophy for the National Junior Football Championship at the Kartar Singh Bains Memorial Football Stadium, Kheda in Mahilpur.
Mizoram scored the first goal of the match in the 28th minute through P Lalchhanhima. The match went into the penalty shootout after a deadlock (1-1) persisted in the extra time. Punjab managed an equalizer in the last minute of regulation time through Anwar Ali. In the penalty shootout, Punjab captain Balbir Singh, Jagdeep, Mohammad Danish and Deepak scored the goals. Mizoram could score only two goals (K Raluahpuia and Lalramyaleta) while two players missed the goal.
DAV College of Hoshiarpur has been beaten up by FA Mahilpur 0-1 on the second day of the Principal Harbhajan Singh Memorial Football Tournament in Mahilpur. The lone goal of the match was scored by Jatinder in the first half.
In the club category, Harbhajan Sporting Club Mahilpur defeated by CRPF Jalandhar 0-1. Amu Macha scored a brilliant goal in the 28th minute to seal the match. Jagat Singh Palahi Club triumphed over Minerva Academy (6-5) in a high-scoring match. Minerva Chandigarh dominated the first half with strikers Rakesh and Atinder scoring in the 6th and 20th minute of the play, respectively. While the Palahi club made a sensational comeback in the match.
