SC appointed RM Lodha-panel to reform Medical Council of India

The Supreme Court of India on 2 May 2016 appointed a 3 member panel headed by former Chief Justice of India (CJI) RM Lodha to oversee the functions of Medical Council of India(MCI). MCI is a regulator of the medical profession and education in India. Other two members of this panel are former Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Vinod Rai and Dr. SK Sareen.

This appointment was done by Supreme Court after reports of a government panel and a parliamentary standing committee indicated the MCI for various malpractices. Former Chief Justice of India (CJI) RM Lodha also headed the panel appointed for betting scandal in the Indian Premier League and functioning of BCCI.
