The Capital market apex, Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has approved the appointment of Ashok Chawla as National Stock Exchange (NSE) new Chairman. He will serve the organization till 27th of March, 2019. Mr. Chawla will replace Mr. S B Mathur, who who has stepped down upon completing his tenure. Mr. Chawla has inducted as a Public Interest Director to NSE board last month only.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Chawla was serving the Competition Commission of India (CCI) as the chief. He has also served as Finance Secretary and Civil Aviation Secretary, among other posts. In February, Mr. Chawla was appointed as chairman of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and as Additional Director by Yes Bank in March.
