Second Indian company got PQP Certification

Geneva-based World Health Organisation (WHO) has given PQP (Pre-qualification of Medicines Programme) certification to Green Signal Bio Pharma Pvt. Ltd., a BCG vaccine-making firm. Because of this, Green Signal is now the second Indian company to get PQP certification from WHO.This certification will help Green Signal to participate in the global immunisation programme, which is facilitated through international procurement agencies such as UNICEF and others.
Headed by former Chief Election Commissioner, Mr. N. Gopalaswamy, GreenSignal has a full-fledged BCG vaccine production facility at Gummidipondy in Thiruvallur district. Set up on a two-acre land, the facility has the capacity to churn out 60 lakh vials. At the moment, the company has been supplying BCG vaccine to the Government of India and Indonesia, The WHO certification will provide Green Signal access to 5-7 countries with UNICEF setting it year-wise allotment target for supply of BCG vaccine.
