Singer Bhuvaneshwari Mishra Passed Away

Renowned Odissa singer Bhubaneshwari Mishra passed away following a cardiac arrest in New Delhi.  She was 67. She was one of the talented artist from Odisha and was renowned as classical and playback singer. 

The classical singer began her career with the song ‘Tiki Mora Naa Ti’ for the mythological Odia movie Krushna Sudama in the 1970s. Apart from many awards, Ms Mishra was also conferred with the Odisha State Film Award for best playback singer (female) for two consecutive terms in 1979 and 1980 for the movies Srikrushna Rasalila and Jay Ma Mangala respectively.


The odissa  singer was popular both as a classical and a playback singer. Some of her popular songs include ‘Itikili mitikili’, ‘Tiki mora naa’, ‘Jahna ra sindura gara’, ‘Tume mora prabhu’, ‘Pirati kie karichhi’, ‘Jagatara natha Jagannatha’, ‘Dayamayee mahamayee maa Mangala’ and so on.
