A former law firm receptionist Susan Kiefel has been appointed as Australia’s first woman Chief Justice of Australia by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. She will replace Justice Robert French. Kiefel will become the 13th Chief Justice of Australia and the senior judge on the seven-judge bench. She became the first woman judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland state in 1993.
