US President on a visit to Vietnam and Japan

U.S. President Barack Obama is on a three day visit to Vietnam and Japan. This is the first visit of Obama’s to Vietnam as an American president which aimed at sealing the transformation of an old enemy into a new partnerFour decades after a war with Vietnam that deeply divided opinion in America, Obama aims to boost defense and economic ties with the country.

After Vietnam visit, US president Obama will travel to Sendai in Japan for the G7 summit meetings. During his Japan visit, he will visit Hiroshima and will become the first sitting U.S. president to visit Hiroshima. He will also meet with survivors of the atomic bombings that ended World War II. From his visit to Vietnam and Japan, Obama hopes to boost support for his Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.
