Vice Admiral A R Karve takes charge of Southern Naval Command

Vice-Admiral A R Karve has taken charge as the Flag Officer Commander-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command (SNC) from Vice Admiral Girish Luthra.

Vice Admiral AR Karve is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla. He was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 80. After his initial sea appointments, he completed his specialization in Anti-Submarine Warfare in 1986 and has served onboard various frontline fleet ships. He has been commissioning crew of INS Viraat (ex-HMS Hermes, the aircraft carrier) and has undergone training at UK.
