The 14th edition of the Global Skills Summit has begun in Delhi. The theme of the two-day Summit is building skills, empowering youth, and creating a future. The Summit aims to focus on creating a road map for a high-quality industry-led skilling ecosystem in India. The Summit will see future-forward discussions and deliberations on the ways to make the youth of India skilled for the industry and navigate the skilling and education ecosystem in India.
Building Skills. Empowering Youth. Creating Future. is a theme that will highlight the role of Industry in all the aspects of education to employment for young India. We already know that we have a few years left before we reap in our demographic dividend and become an old nation. Hence, the youth need to earn, engage, become empowered and entrepreneurial. The Summit will see future forward discussions and deliberations on how to make Indian youth skilled on industry demanded skills, how do we navigate the skilling and education ecosystem in India through the changing times of Industry 4.0, Automation and ChatGPTs.
For the last 13 editions, the Global Skills Summit has witnessed participation of over 10K national and International TVET stakeholders from India and abroad. Over these years, we have heard and engaged with leaders from Industry, Government of India, International agencies, State Skill development missions, National Council for Vocational Education and Training, National Skill Development Corporation, Sector Skills Councils, CBSE, NITI AAYOG, UNDP, ILO, World Bank, Industry members and many more. We have deliberated on issues and presented recommendations to Industry , academia and Government on issues like Vocationalisation of skills, international migration, skill gap analysis and role of industry. This year, we are moving our focus from identifying and acknowledging issues to resolving and building pathways for a stronger skilling ecosystem in India5’.
