Every year on October 31, India celebrates Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. This year’s celebration holds special significance as the nation commemorates his 150th birth anniversary.
Sardar Patel’s vision and determination united 565 princely states, shaping the modern Indian nation. The day serves as a reminder of his lifelong dedication to national integration, unity, and integrity.
The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2025 is extra special as it marks the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s Iron Man. The celebrations at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, include a grand parade, cultural performances, and air shows showcasing India’s unity and diversity. It’s a proud tribute to Patel’s legacy of national integration and strength.
The main event is being held at Ekta Nagar in the Narmada district of Gujarat, home to the iconic Statue of Unity. The venue symbolizes “Unity in Diversity”, reflecting India’s cultural richness and natural beauty.
The highlight of the celebration is a grand parade and cultural festival, bringing together Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), State Police units, and National Cadet Corps (NCC) contingents from across India.
The parade includes participation from major security forces such as the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, and police contingents from Assam, Tripura, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh.
Adding to the visual splendor are cavalry and camel-mounted contingents, martial arts demonstrations, unarmed combat drills, and displays by indigenous dog breeds—all showcasing India’s discipline, courage, and tradition.
This year’s celebration places strong emphasis on women’s empowerment.
The parade will be enhanced by exciting performances such as:
A major attraction will be the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team of the Indian Air Force, performing a breathtaking air show to honor India’s unity and spirit.
Colorful tableaux from various states and union territories such as Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra, Manipur, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Puducherry, along with the NSG and NDRF, will depict India’s vibrant traditions and progress.
Brass bands from the BSF, CRPF, CISF, SSB, Delhi Police, and other forces will add patriotic rhythm to the occasion.
The event will also honor gallantry awardees, including five Shaurya Chakra recipients from CRPF and 16 medal winners from BSF for their bravery in counter-terror and anti-Naxal operations.
A grand cultural program featuring 900 artists will celebrate India’s classical dances, folk traditions, and cultural diversity. These performances will highlight how unity and creativity flow through every corner of India.
