BHIM Launches “UPI Circle Full Delegation” Empowering Families and Young Adults

On November 25, 2025, NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL) introduced a new feature on the BHIM app called UPI Circle Full Delegation. This allows users to authorize trusted people—like family members or employees—to make UPI payments from their account with a monthly spending limit. It aims to support senior citizens, young adults, and others who may not be fully comfortable with digital payments.

This is another step forward in India’s push for wider and safer use of digital payments.

What the New Feature Does

UPI Circle Full Delegation lets a primary user give permission to a secondary user to both start and complete UPI payments using the primary user’s account.

The feature includes,

  • A monthly limit of up to ₹15,000
  • A validity period from 1 month to 5 years
  • This setup works well for users who need help handling digital payments but still want to make small transactions independently.

How to Set It Up

To use this feature, follow these steps,

  • Open the BHIM app and go to UPI Circle
  • Tap ‘Invite to Circle’ and add the secondary user’s contact
  • Enter their UPI ID or scan QR code
  • Choose ‘Approve a Monthly Limit (Full Delegation)’
  • Confirm relationship and verify ID (like Aadhaar)
  • Set monthly spending limit and validity
  • Choose the bank account and enter UPI PIN

Once the other person accepts, they can start using it after a short wait

Why This Feature Matters

  • Helps Senior Citizens: Many elderly people have bank accounts but avoid digital payments. With this feature, they can pay for things like medicine and groceries without worrying about tech or fraud. Their family can set limits and keep track of expenses.
  • Useful for Young Adults: Parents can give controlled access to their children for school or personal spending. It teaches them to manage money responsibly while keeping them within safe limits.
  • Makes Business Tasks Easier: Small business owners can let trusted staff pay for work needs like travel or supplies. It removes the need to carry cash and keeps all transactions transparent.
  • Supports People New to Digital Payments: People who aren’t tech-savvy can still make digital payments with help from someone they trust, who sets everything up and controls the limits.
