Paschal Donohoe Appointed MD and CKO of the World Bank Group
World Bank Group announced the appointment of Paschal Donohoe as its new Managing Director and Chief Knowledge Officer, marking a pivotal leadership addition to the global development institution. Donohoe, a seasoned European policymaker and public servant, will officially assume his role on November 24, bringing over two decades of experience in both public administration and the private sector to the World Bank’s mission of ending poverty and boosting shared prosperity.
Paschal Donohoe most recently served as Ireland’s Minister for Finance since January 2025, and previously held the influential position of President of the Eurogroup since July 2020. He is widely known for his pragmatic leadership during turbulent economic phases in the EU and for forging greater coordination among European finance ministries.
Donohoe also spent nearly a decade at Procter & Gamble, gaining valuable insights into corporate governance, finance, and global operations—experience that complements his policy expertise.
