AIFF Clinches AFC President’s Recognition Award for Grassroots Football (Silver)

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) received the prestigious AFC President’s Recognition Award for Grassroots Football (Silver) at the AFC Annual Awards in Seoul, South Korea, on October 29, 2024. This achievement marks a notable improvement from last year’s bronze, recognizing AIFF’s significant strides in grassroots development, sustainability, and strong stakeholder collaboration.

Long-Term Grassroots Commitment

The AIFF has been lauded for implementing sustainable grassroots programs that engage regional participation and foster partnerships with local organizations. Since last year, the federation’s commitment to grassroots football has been endorsed with a silver-level membership in the AFC Grassroots Charter, indicating AIFF’s alignment with global football standards and its dedication to youth engagement.

Initiatives and Program Success

AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey credited initiatives like the Khelo India program, involving 90 cities, which continues to inspire grassroots activities. The FIFA-AIFF Academy in Bhubaneswar, a product of the FIFA Talent Development Scheme, further supports talent cultivation under the guidance of Arsène Wenger. The AIFF has also actively engaged in AFC coaching education, improving the quality and reach of its grassroots efforts nationwide.

The Blue Cubs Vision and Future Growth

AIFF’s Blue Cubs initiative aims to engage 35 million children by 2026, establishing development centers, hosting football festivals, and collaborating with Indian Super League clubs, local bodies, and NGOs.
