Amazon India and Gentari Partner to Expand EV Delivery Fleet

Amazon India and Gentari Green Mobility India have announced a strategic partnership aimed at significantly boosting Amazon’s electric vehicle (EV) fleet for last-mile deliveries. This collaboration aligns with Amazon’s goal of scaling up its EV adoption across more than 400 cities in India and increasing its fleet to 10,000 units by 2025.

Partnership Details

The partnership, unveiled on Monday, will see Gentari providing Amazon with access to over 3,000 three-wheeler EVs. Gentari will also offer comprehensive fleet management services, including vehicle upkeep and operational support, to Amazon’s delivery service partners (DSPs).

EV Fleet Expansion

Amazon has already deployed over 7,200 EVs in India and aims to reach 10,000 EVs in its delivery fleet by 2025. The new EVs will be strategically deployed across key cities, enhancing Amazon’s last-mile delivery operations and contributing to its sustainability goals.

Technological and Operational Support

The EVs in this programme are designed to travel at speeds up to 50 km/h and cover more than 100 km on a single charge. They are equipped with technology that provides real-time data on vehicle performance, supporting operational efficiency. Gentari’s role includes managing vehicle life cycles, offering charging and parking facilities, and supporting end-to-end fleet management.

Entrepreneurial Opportunities

The programme also supports aspiring entrepreneurs by providing them with the infrastructure, technology, and fleet management services needed to build their own last-mile delivery businesses. This initiative aims to create small businesses and improve delivery services for Amazon’s customers across India.

Alignment with Government Initiatives

This partnership supports India’s focus on e-mobility and aligns with government initiatives like the Electric Mobility Promotion scheme, which aims to create a conducive environment for EV adoption and industry collaborations.
