Amit Shah Inaugurates Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan Projects

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the commencement of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) facilities in 41 villages and various development projects in 178 villages under the ‘Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan’. The initiative aims to uplift the infrastructure and living standards in rural areas of Delhi.

Fund Allocation and Project Implementation

  • The Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan has a fund of Rs 960 crore to develop necessary infrastructure in Delhi’s urbanized villages and new urban areas.
  • Projects worth Rs 383 crore have been sanctioned in various villages of Delhi during the current financial year.

Objectives of the Abhiyan

  • Enhance the quality of life by addressing infrastructure gaps and civic amenities.
  • Foster active community participation in decision-making processes.
  • Ensure equitable access to community assets and opportunities.

Projects Undertaken

  • Construction and improvement of roads, drains, footpaths, and central verges.
  • Provisioning of sewage treatment plants, rainwater harvesting, and development of parks.
  • Promotion of horticulture work, village libraries, and sports facilities.

PNG Supply in Rural Areas

  • PNG supply initiated in 41 villages through a 100-kilometer pipeline network at a cost of Rs 20 crore by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL).
  • Aim to provide safe, affordable, and eco-friendly energy options to rural areas.

IGL’s Reach in Delhiq3

  • IGL has reached 1.5 million households in Delhi with an 11,000-kilometer pipeline network.
  • Expansion of network to cover rural areas for wider access to PNG.
