Andhra Pradesh Police Launches AI Drone Portal, SafeStay App

Andhra Pradesh Police has introduced two technology-based portals for better surveillance and crime prevention. The Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta in collaboration with Guntur Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal has rolled out the Centralized Drone Monitoring Portal (CDMP) as well as introduced SafeStay AP application in Guntur on September 22, 2026. These two tools have been developed for providing fast access to field intelligence, centralized drone feed, and real-time hotel/PG occupancy data.

What is the Centralised Drone Monitoring Portal?

The Centralised Drone Monitoring Portal (CDMP) offers authorised personnel of the police a live feed of drones used for policing activities in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Officials will no longer have to monitor separate streams of drones but can monitor them using a single centralised interface. In addition, it is equipped with AI-powered monitoring and analytical abilities.

Features of CDMP include,

• Live monitoring of the active police drones
• Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
• AI-powered monitoring and analytics
• Drones’ feed access
• Field-level situational awareness

It is designed to enable the rapid assessment of events at ground level and for the police to take action where necessary.

SafeStay AP App For Monitoring Hotel and PG Occupancy

The SafeStay AP app will concentrate on providing information regarding accommodation. This application will help the police to get information on individuals residing in hotels and paying guest accommodations in the entire state.

The application is developed for giving occupancy related information for ensuring safety and preventing any criminal activities.

It will also help the police to coordinate more quickly in case of safety issues.

What Did the Andhra Pradesh DGP Say?

Harish Kumar Gupta, the DGP of Andhra Pradesh, said that there had been an effort by the police department in using technology in policing. In addition, he emphasized that technology would facilitate public services.

He identified areas including women’s security, drug control, traffic control, investigations, and preventive policing where technology would help in the functioning of the police force.

Moreover, he emphasized the bigger picture of making policing more accessible so that citizens do not have to visit police stations for receiving services.

Students and Tech Professionals Help with Innovation in Policing

The contribution of educational institutions and technology innovation students towards the development of technology-based solutions for policing cannot be ignored either.

As reported from the launch event, students and technology professionals from KL University were responsible for developing the AI-based technologies. Further, it was mentioned by the police that there will be more technology-based applications in the coming future.

The launches were part of several technology-based measures by Andhra Pradesh Police. Recently, in September, Andhra Pradesh Police launched 26 mobile forensic vehicles for district areas to enhance crime scene evidence collection.
