Anil Chakravarthy Named Adobe CEO: Know His Career and Profile
Adobe has chosen Anil Chakravarthy to become the company’s next President and CEO, an important development at the international software organization. The appointment of Chakravarthy as President and CEO will come into effect from December 1, 2026. He will be succeeded by the current CEO of the organization, Shantanu Narayen. In addition to becoming CEO of the organization, he will join Adobe’s Board of Directors. On the other hand, Narayen will become executive chair of Adobe.
Chakravarthy was chosen by the Board of Directors after a CEO succession process conducted by a special committee. Frank Calderoni, lead independent director of Adobe, stated that the Board of Directors had made a unanimous decision that Chakravarthy was the appropriate CEO for the next phase of growth of Adobe.
The current CEO of Adobe, Narayen, had earlier this year informed the organization about his plans of stepping down from his position as CEO. Narayen will continue to work closely with Chakravarthy as executive chair.
He joined Adobe as an executive vice president and general manager in January 2020 to manage its Digital Experience business.
He soon acquired another position at Adobe in September the same year by becoming responsible for the company’s worldwide field operations serving its enterprise customers across its product portfolio.
Chakravarthy got promoted to the position of president of Digital Experience and worldwide field operations in December 2021. As a leader, he contributed to the growth of the company’s enterprise customer business and in its product strategy for AI.
As part of his tenure at Adobe, Chakravarthy contributed to creating various products that leverage artificial intelligence. Some of those include Adobe CX Enterprise, GenStudio, and Brand Visibility.
Furthermore, he worked on expanding Adobe Experience Platform and implementing innovations like CX Enterprise Coworker. He is responsible for leading the acquisition and integration of Workfront and Semrush into Adobe’s platform.
The experience of Chakravarthy in the field of enterprise software and AI-based customer solutions should prove invaluable in the rapidly changing software industry.
Prior to joining Adobe, Chakravarthy was CEO of Informatica, the enterprise cloud data management software company, for four years. Chakravarthy initially joined Informatica in 2013 as executive vice president.
Prior to that, Chakravarthy had worked at Symantec and VeriSign and also at McKinsey & Company. Therefore, his career experience encompasses enterprise software, cloud data management, technology and consulting.
Chakravarthy is an alumnus of the Institute of Technology, Varanasi, India where he received his Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering.
Further, Chakravarthy pursued his higher education at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he received his Masters of Science and Ph.D.
