AP Science City Signs 5-Year MoU with CSIR-NIScPR to Boost Science Outreach

Andhra Pradesh Science City has signed the strategic agreement with CSIR-NIScPR on the March 30 2026. This collaboration aims to promote science awareness, STEM education and policy research across the country. This partnership is focusing on the building a culture of the scientific thinking and improving evidence based on the policymaking.

Key Highlights of AP Science City-CSIR NIScPR MoU

The Andhra Pradesh Science City (SCAP) has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research. This MoU will to enhance the collaboration in to the science and innovation.

This agreement is focus on the science popularization and collaborative research which is particularly in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) policy.

The main aim is to promote evidence based policymaking and which plays the crucial role to shaping the effective governance and development strategies.

The MoU is the non-financial in nature and it will remain valid for the five years and also with an option for extension based on mutual agreement.

Strengthening Science Popularisation and Public Awareness

One of the core objectives of this partnership is to improve the science communication and also to awareness among citizens.

In the rapidly evolving world this type of scientific literacy is essential for the informed decision-making.

Through this collaboration both institutions are aim to,

  • Promoting the scientific temper among the public
  • Also to encourage STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
  • The make complex scientific ideas which are easy to understand for common people

Role of SCAP and CSIR-NIScPR in India’s Scientific Ecosystem

The Andhra Pradesh Science City which is the headquartered in Amaravati has been actively promoting the innovation, STEM learning and scientific curiosity since its establishment in the year 2016.

On the other hand CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research was established in 2021 under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. And it will be focus on to the science communication, research and policy studies.

Their combined effort and strength will help to the bridge the gap between scientific research and policymaking.

Science popularisation is the process of to making the scientific knowledge accessible and make it understandable for the general public. It also includes the activities like science exhibitions, workshops, publications and digital outreach.
