APEDA Opens Regional Office in Raipur to Boost Chhattisgarh’s Agri Exports

The Government of India has taken a major step to strengthen agricultural exports from Chhattisgarh. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority has inaugurated its Regional Office in Raipur. The move is aimed at supporting farmers, producer organizations, and exporters while unlocking the state’s vast potential in Agri and processed food exports.

Chhattisgarh has a rich agri-ecosystem with strong export potential. The state is known for premium non-basmati rice and GI-tagged varieties such as Jeera phool Rice and Nagri Dubraj Rice. In addition, the state produces fruits, vegetables, and minor forest produce like mahua and tamarind. A local APEDA office will directly support exporters and farmers in tapping global markets.

Role and Functions of the APEDA Regional Office

The new APEDA office in Raipur will provide export registration, advisory services, market intelligence, and certification support. It will also assist in export facilitation, infrastructure development, and market linkage. Recently, the office supported exports of fortified rice kernels from Chhattisgarh to Costa Rica and Papua New Guinea, highlighting its practical impact.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai described the APEDA office as a mission to connect farmers with the global economy. He thanked Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal for approving the office and assured full support for expanding exports of agricultural and organic products from the state.
