On the occasion of World Environment Day, the traditional cloth bags called “Manchappai,” which means ‘yellow bags,’ were distributed by the state environment minister Siva. V. Meyyanathan and health minister Ma. Subramanian in Chennai to promote the use of environmental-friendly carry bags instead of plastic bags which are harmful to the environment.
