Ashwini Bhide Becomes First Woman BMC Commissioner
Ashwini Bhide has been appointed as the first woman Municipal Commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). This appointment was announced on March 31st and it is seen as good decision toward efficient governance and faster execution of civic projects in Mumbai. She will set to take charge after the tenure of Bhushan Gagrani ends and she will lead till the 2030.
Ashwini Bhide is the senior IAS officer of the Maharashtra cadre. She is known for her strong administrative skills and her track record to handling large-scale infrastructure projects in her career.
She has built the reputation as the result-oriented bureaucrat and also the expert in the urban infrastructure and transport planning. She is also known for the timely completion of the project she lead.
Her appointment signals the significant milestone in the gender representation in top civic administration roles.

Leadership in Mumbai Metro Projects
She is widely famous for her role as Managing Director of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) and also the key part behind the execution of the Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ) project.
Her work has demonstrated the strong project management skills and her ability to handle the complex urban infrastructure challenges.
She has also served in the multiple administrative roles in the urban development and the public infrastructure.
