HONOHON is the official mascot of the 20th Asian Games. The mascot was created to personify the passion and enthusiasm of the athletes participating in the sports competition across Asia.
According to the description, HONOHON was born in the hearts of athletes. HONOHON’s purpose is to unite people at the Aichi-Nagoya Games following the Games’ slogan:
The name HONOHON derives from the word “Honoho” which means “flame” in Japanese. The symbol refers to the image of burning high and bright fire looking like an ear of rice.
The theme of the opening ceremony is “Harmonic Heart Beat.” The theme is inspired by the athletes who unite in their emotions, experience, and competition across various regions of Asia.
The larger theme of the ceremony is “Heart Beat Aichi-Nagoya.” The theme is inspired by the idea of heartbeats and hearts.
The official motto of the event is “Imagine One Asia.” Japanese filmmaker Yukihiko Tsutsumi is the creative director of the ceremony.
A sudden change has taken place in regard to the male flag-bearer of India.
It has been decided that Manu Bhaker will carry the flag of India as the nation’s female flag-bearer and Tajinderpal Singh Toor has been nominated as the male flag-bearer. But, he was later substituted by kabaddi player Pawan Sehrawat because his official kit did not reach him on time.
Manu Bhaker is an Olympic medalist (bronze medals twice) from the Paris 2024 Olympics and is participating in her first-ever Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya. On the other hand, Pawan Sehrawat is an important member of India’s kabaddi team who emerged as the top scorer in India’s winning campaign at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.
