Asian Games Sports Name List
The 19th edition of the Asian Games in 2023 is set to begin on September 23 and will run until October 8 in Hangzhou, China. Originally scheduled for the previous year, the event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The opening ceremony is slated for September 23, and India will be sending a strong delegation of 655 athletes to compete in 41 different sports.
The Asian Games will feature a total of 40 sports encompassing 61 disciplines, including notable sports like cricket, football, and athletics. The closing ceremony will mark the conclusion of the Games on October 8. The event’s three mascots, Congcong, Lianlian, and Chenchen, collectively known as the ‘Memories of Jiangnan,’ were introduced on April 3, 2020. Additionally, the official theme song of the Games, titled ‘With You and Me,’ was released along with its music video on April 27, 2023, featuring performances by Angea Zhang, Jackson Wang, Sunnee, and JC-T.

The Asian Games in 2023 are set to kick off on September 23, with cricket, football, volleyball, and beach volleyball commencing a few days earlier on September 19. It’s worth noting that this edition will mark the debut of the Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams in the Asian Games, with the women’s team starting their campaign on September 21 and the men’s team on September 27.
India will also be well-represented in track and field, with 68 athletes in the spotlight, including Olympic and world javelin champion Neeraj Chopra, who is also the reigning Asian Games champion in his category. Additionally, hockey will serve as a qualifier for the 2024 Olympics, making it an important event for the Indian hockey teams as they aim to secure an early ticket by winning gold.
