Asia's First Health Research "Pre-Clinical Network Facility" Inaugurated in Faridabad
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh recently inaugurated Asia’s inaugural health research-related Pre-clinical Network Facility at Faridabad’s Translational Health Science & Technology Institute (THSTI). This facility, selected by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), is notable as Asia’s first and the 9th globally to handle BSL3 pathogens.
The facility includes one of India’s largest small animal housing capacities, supporting research on immune-compromised mice and various species. Additionally, the inauguration of the Genetically Defined Human Associated Microbial Culture Collection (Ge-HuMic) Facility aims to foster national and international collaborations in microbial research.
Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted THSTI’s achievements over its 14-year journey and its pivotal role during the COVID-19 pandemic. He emphasized the Department of Biotechnology’s contributions and assured support for future infrastructure needs.
The institute will facilitate cutting-edge research, translational studies on drug and vaccine candidates, and collaborations across academic and industrial sectors, aiming to advance healthcare innovations.
