Bhopal Mahila Thana Achieves ISO Certification

Introduction

The Bhopal Mahila Thana, located in the city of Bhopal, has achieved a significant milestone by securing ISO certification. This certification highlights the police station’s commitment to maintaining high standards in its operations and infrastructure.

Over the past three years, the Bhopal Mahila Thana has dedicated efforts to improve its infrastructure. This transformation has led it to become the second ISO-certified police station in the city, with the Misrod police station being the first to achieve this recognition.

ISO Certification Award

The International Organisation of Standardization (ISO) recently presented the certificate to the Bhopal Mahila Thana, acknowledging its adherence to international standards.

Warehouse Transformation

A notable change was the conversion of a warehouse within the police station. The contents of the warehouse were properly processed and deposited in court in accordance with established rules. The entire area underwent a sanitation overhaul to ensure the safety and well-being of the police station staff during meetings and daily operations.

Improved Facilities

Several measures were taken to enhance the facilities within the police station. This included the provision of separate rooms and computers for investigating officers and staff. CCTV cameras were strategically installed to bolster security.

Victim-Friendly Approach

The Bhopal Mahila Thana adopted a “victim-friendly” approach. A dedicated play area, referred to as a “swing house,” was established for children. Furthermore, the police station saw the construction of more than five toilets and the creation of a feeding room for women.

Understanding ISO

ISO, an independent organization representing approximately 160 countries, evaluates and issues certificates to businesses based on the quality, safety, and efficiency of their products or services. The ISO certification is valid for a period of three years.

In May of this year, the Misrod police station in Bhopal received its ISO certification. The certificate was presented to Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayan Chari Mishra by the Director of Infinity Certification Services, Hemlata Sharma.

The ISO certification awarded to the Bhopal Mahila Thana underscores the station’s commitment to meeting international standards and creating an environment that is both efficient and sensitive to the needs of the community it serves.

Important takeaways for all competitive exams:

  • International Organisation of Standardization Headquarters: Geneva, Switzerland;
  • International Organisation of Standardization Founded: 23 February 1947, London, United Kingdom;
  • International Organisation of Standardization President: Ulrika Francke.
