Book on President Droupadi Murmu Released by Sanitation Worker at Andhra University
A heart-touching and socially meaningful incident took place in Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), where a book on the life of President Droupadi Murmu was released by Lakshmamma, a woman sanitation worker who cleans roads at Andhra University. The book release happened and has gained attention for its strong message of equality, dignity of labour, and inclusiveness.
This event is being seen as more than just a book launch—it reflects an important idea in Indian society: every job deserves respect and every citizen deserves equal dignity.
The book is titled: “Agni Sarassulo Vikasinchina Kamalam Droupadi Murmu”. It has been authored by Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, a former Member of Parliament and president of the Viswa Hindi Parishad.
The title is symbolic and metaphorical. It describes how President Murmu rose from hardship and struggle to become the highest constitutional authority of India—like a lotus blooming in fire-filled waters.
One of the most striking parts of the event was the venue. Instead of an auditorium or formal hall, the book was released: Under a tree on the Andhra University campus. This unusual choice made the event more emotional and impactful. It represented simplicity and connection with real life—much like President Murmu’s own journey. Also, the decision to have a sanitation worker release the book created a powerful social message.
Author Lakshmi Prasad explained that President Murmu’s life is a source of inspiration for:
He said choosing Lakshmamma for the book release was a conscious decision to highlight:
This directly reflects the values President Murmu represents—her background, simplicity, and strength.
