BRICS Summit 2026: India Invites Bangladesh as Special Guest While Hosting Key Ministerial Meetings
In an important move, Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended an invitation to Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to participate in the summit as a special guest. The move demonstrates India’s effort at cementing its partnerships in the region as well as with the Global South. Additionally, India is conducting various ministerial meetings under its chairmanship of BRICS 2026 that cover important aspects like health cooperation and disaster risk reduction. These meetings will help to set the agenda for the summit.
India has invited Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to the BRICS summit that will take place from September 17 to 19, 2026 in New Delhi.
Bangladesh does not belong to BRICS yet has shown interest in becoming part of it in the past. The invitation is seen as an important diplomatic move on India’s part to strengthen regional cooperation.
