BWSSB Achieves Global ISO 50001 Energy Management Certification, Marking Historic Milestone

A important development for the urban infrastructure Bengaluru’s water authority has achieved the major global recognition. The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has become the first water utility in the India to receive the prestigious ISO 50001:2018 certification for the energy management. The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has earned the global recognition for the advanced energy management practices.

The certification was issued by the Bureau Veritas which is the leading international certification agency.

ISO 50001:2018 is the internationally accepted standard which focuses on to efficient energy use, cost reduction and the environmental sustainability.

What Areas Does the Certification Cover?

The certification specifically recognizes the BWSSB’s efficient functioning across the key operational areas.

It includes the bulk water supply pumping stations which are located at the,

• TK Halli
• Harohalli
• Tataguni

These facilities have plays  the important role in supplying water to Bengaluru and it require high energy usage.

In addition the certification also covers the,

Operations at the Cauvery Bhavan headquarters.
Also the continuous water supply across the Greater Bengaluru region.
