Born on January 26, 1962, in Red Bluff, Calif., Chiarello’s culinary journey began in his home state. In 1987, he opened his first restaurant, Tra Vigne, in the picturesque Napa Valley. This marked the beginning of his enduring relationship with the region and its culinary traditions.
Over the years, Chiarello expanded his culinary empire, opening renowned restaurants such as Bottega, Ottimo, and Coqueta, each reflecting his distinct style and passion for creating unforgettable dining experiences.
Chiarello’s influence extended far beyond the walls of his restaurants. He graced television screens for a decade, hosting shows on PBS, Food Network, Fine Living, and the Cooking Channel. His Emmy-winning cooking show, “Easy Entertaining With Michael Chiarello,” ran for an impressive 10 seasons on Food Network, where he shared his culinary expertise and inspired viewers to explore the art of cooking.
In addition to his hosting duties, Chiarello served as a judge on Bravo’s “Top Chef” and “Top Chef Masters.” His culinary prowess and keen palate made him a respected voice in the world of competitive cooking.
