In a remarkable feat of engineering and tourism development, the state of Uttar Pradesh has unveiled its first-ever glass skywalk bridge, located at the enchanting Tulsi (Shabari) Waterfall in Chitrakoot. This innovative and visually stunning structure, shaped like Lord Ram’s bow and arrow, is poised to become a premier eco-tourism destination for visitors to the region.
The glass skywalk bridge, constructed at a cost of Rs 3.70 crore, seamlessly blends into the natural surroundings of the Kodand forest area, where the cascading Tulsi Waterfalls are situated. Designed to mimic the iconic bow and arrow, the bridge’s unique form not only pays homage to the region’s cultural heritage but also serves as a captivating architectural marvel that will captivate and inspire visitors.
The completion of the glass skywalk bridge marks a significant milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s efforts to promote sustainable and immersive eco-tourism experiences. Scheduled to open to the public after the Lok Sabha elections, the bridge is expected to attract a surge of visitors, eager to witness the breathtaking panoramic views of the Tulsi Waterfalls and the surrounding verdant landscape.
Formerly known as the Shabari Waterfall, the site has been renamed Tulsi Waterfall by the state government, acknowledging its significance as the birthplace of the renowned poet and spiritual leader, Goswami Tulsidas. This renaming, coupled with the development of the glass skywalk bridge, is part of a larger plan to transform the area into a thriving eco-tourism destination.
In addition to the captivating glass skywalk bridge, the Forest and Tourism Department have grand plans to further enhance the visitor experience at Tulsi Waterfall. This includes the development of a park, a herbal garden, and the introduction of dining facilities, all seamlessly integrated with the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the site.
The construction of the glass skywalk bridge was undertaken by the Pawan Sut Construction Company of Ghazipur, under the supervision of the Forest and Tourism Department. The bridge, engineered to withstand a load capacity of 500 kg per square meter, features an arrow-shaped extension that extends 25 meters towards the abyss, with a width of 35 meters between the two supporting pillars.
As visitors venture onto the glass skywalk bridge, they will be treated to a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Tulsi Waterfall and the surrounding lush forest. The design of the bridge, with its transparent glass panels, allows for an unobstructed view of the three cascading streams that plunge into the wide water bed approximately 40 feet below, creating an awe-inspiring and immersive experience.
The development of the glass skywalk bridge in Chitrakoot is part of Uttar Pradesh’s broader efforts to promote sustainable tourism and engage with local communities. By leveraging the natural beauty and cultural significance of the Tulsi Waterfall, the state aims to create economic opportunities and foster a sense of pride and ownership among the residents of the region.
The introduction of the glass skywalk bridge in Chitrakoot is a testament to the state government’s commitment to unlocking the tourism potential of the region. As a destination steeped in history, cultural significance, and natural splendor, Chitrakoot is poised to become a hub for eco-tourism, attracting visitors from across the country and beyond.
The renaming of the Shabari Waterfall to Tulsi Waterfall symbolizes the transformation that the site is undergoing, from a lesser-known natural wonder to a premier eco-tourism destination. With the addition of the glass skywalk bridge and the planned development of supporting amenities, Tulsi Waterfall is set to become a must-visit attraction, offering visitors a unique and immersive experience that seamlessly blends the region’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and tourism potential.
