Meanwhile, Harjinder Kaur secured a silver medal in weightlifting, and four Indian boxers guaranteed themselves at least bronze medals by reaching the semifinals.
Asian champion Gulveer Singh etched his name into Indian athletics history after winning the silver medal in the men’s 10,000-metre race.
Competing at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow, Gulveer clocked an impressive 27:49.78 to finish second behind Australia’s Ky Robinson, who claimed the gold medal.
This remarkable achievement marks the first-ever Commonwealth Games medal by an Indian in the men’s 10,000m event, highlighting India’s growing strength in long-distance running.
India’s experienced weightlifter Harjinder Kaur added another medal to the country’s tally by winning silver in the women’s 69kg weightlifting event.
