CSIR and MSSRF Sign MoU for Rural Livelihood Generation
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing livelihood opportunities among rural, tribal, and farming communities in India. This collaboration aims to leverage CSIR’s technological innovations and MSSRF’s grassroots outreach to empower marginalized groups.
Under the MoU, CSIR will transfer affordable and impactful technologies developed in its laboratories to MSSRF-selected groups, including SHGs, NGOs, and FPOs. These technologies will focus on sectors crucial to rural development such as agriculture, nutrition, and healthcare.
CSIR, known for its pioneering research in diverse fields like healthcare, biotechnology, and aerospace, will provide technical expertise and proven technologies. This partnership seeks to catalyze economic development through innovation and inclusive practices.
MSSRF, recognized for its pro-poor and pro-nature approach, will facilitate the adoption of these technologies among tribal and rural communities. The foundation aims to address practical challenges in agriculture, food security, and nutrition through localized research and application.
Together, CSIR and MSSRF envision creating a sustainable framework for technology transfer that fosters economic independence and community empowerment, particularly among vulnerable populations across India. This collaboration underscores a commitment to leveraging science and technology for societal progress and inclusive growth.
