Delhi CM Launches ‘U-Special’ Buses for College Students
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off a new fleet of ‘U-Special’ buses aimed at improving daily commute for Delhi University students. The initiative revives the long-defunct U-Special service and introduces a modern, electric, and student-friendly public transport system, combining environmental consciousness with enhanced safety.
The U-Special bus service, once a staple for Delhi University students, had been non-operational for years. CM Rekha Gupta, in her address, pointed out that previous administrations—whether under AAP or Congress—neglected this service. She emphasized that under the BJP-led Delhi government, the program has been revived to infuse vibrancy into student life and offer a reliable, cost-effective transportation option for university-goers.
The service will allow students to commute safely from their homes to university campuses and back, supporting both academic engagement and social mobility.

The latest fare hike by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) raised ticket prices by Rs 1 to Rs 4, depending on travel distance. For the Airport Express Line, the hike was up to Rs 5.
