Delhi Government’s Cash Rewards Boost for Olympic & Paralympic Medalists

The Delhi government has significantly increased cash rewards for Olympic and Paralympic medal winners to promote sports excellence and youth empowerment. The decision was taken under the newly launched Mukhyamantri Khel Protsahan Yojana, aiming to recognize and reward sporting talent at the international level.

Background

Earlier, Olympic gold medallists received ₹3 crore in Delhi now they will receive 7 crore. Recognizing the growing need to support athletes, the government decided to raise the incentives, aligning them with national goals to promote sports as a career.

Significance

The move aims to encourage more youth to take up sports and strive for excellence. By providing financial rewards and job security, the scheme supports athletes in focusing entirely on training and competition.
