Diksha Dagar wins record second ladies European tour event title

Introduction

Diksha Dagar, a talented 22-year-old southpaw golfer from Jhajjar, Haryana, secured her second Ladies European Tour (LET) title at the Czech Ladies Open. Diksha, who won her first LET title in 2019 and was part of the winning team at the Aramco Team Series in London in 2021, delivered a commanding performance throughout the tournament. This victory marks her second individual win on the LET, and she now boasts nine top-10 finishes, with four of them achieved this season.

Impressive Performance at the Czech Ladies Open

Starting the final day with a comfortable five-shot lead, Diksha displayed remarkable composure and consistency. She carded a final round of 69, featuring four birdies and just one bogey, to secure a four-shot victory. Diksha’s solid performance throughout the week included a bogey-free 65 in the second round, where she showcased her exceptional skills with 13 birdies and an eagle over three rounds.

Rise to Victory

Diksha’s road to victory was marked by steady progress and a series of impressive performances. With a total score of 9-under, she maintained her composure in challenging conditions and finished the tournament as the deserving champion. Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab made a valiant effort on the final day with a 64, but her early-round struggles prevented her from closing the gap on Diksha. Trichat finished in sole second place, while Frenchwoman Celine Herbin secured third position at 8-under.

Diksha’s Journey and Achievements

Diksha’s success at the Czech Ladies Open comes after a string of top-10 finishes, indicating her consistent form on the LET. Since her debut in 2019, Diksha has participated in 79 LET events, clinching two individual titles and accumulating nine top-10 finishes. Her remarkable journey in professional golf has been an inspiration to many, especially considering the challenges she has faced as an individual with a hearing impairment. Diksha has worn hearing aids since the age of six, and her father, Col Narinder Dagar, has been her guiding force as her mentor, coach, and caddie.

Indian Success on the LET

Diksha’s victory adds to the growing list of Indian achievements on the LET. She follows in the footsteps of Aditi Ashok, who became the first Indian to win on the LET with her triumph at the Hero Women’s Indian Open in 2016. In 2023, Aditi also secured a win at the Magical Kenya Ladies, making her the first Indian to claim victory this season. Diksha and Aditi remain the only Indians to taste success on the LET, showcasing the rising talent from India in the international golfing arena.
